Artwork: Guanacaste Wood Marimba Players

Fabiola De Ford
From the series ‘Guanacaste Wood Woman’, 2026

Technique: Acrylic on canvas
Dimensions: 45 × 61 cm

Two personifications of ‘Wood Woman’ gather around the marimba, evoking the collective nature of Guanacaste’s musical tradition. The wood symbolically links the bodies to the instrument and transforms sound into visual memory. The work celebrates music as a space for encounter, transmission and belonging.  The marimba is Costa Rica's national music symbol.
